Viverae is lead by a group of seasoned executives with backgrounds in health consulting, insurance, education and research, technology and management. Their innovative, forward thinking has taken this company from wellness company to an industry leader.
Michael Nadeau
President and Chief Executive Officer
Health care advocate Michael Nadeau founded Viverae - formerly Elite Wellness - in 2003, in response to excessive utilization of health care plans and a generally unhealthy U.S. workforce. Mr. Nadeau brings 15 years of outsourcing and human resources experience to the company. Prior to Viverae, Mr. Nadeau worked for a Dallas-based human resources outsourcing company. There, he recognized the need for accountability in the workplace to keep employees healthier and reduce corporate spending on health care. Previously, he was an equity partner for Acuity Technology, an information technology (IT) consulting company in Dallas. A Boston-native, Mr. Nadeau began his career in the Northeast, working in the software development, IT consulting and health care industries.
Mr. Nadeau has been recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit as a winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2009 award in the "emerging sector" category for the Southwest Area North region. Under his leadership, Viverae has been named one of the "Best Places to Work" by the Dallas Business Journal. Mr. Nadeau is an expert in corporate health care solutions, health management programs, health risk identification and employee health incentives.
Jeff Brizzolara, Ph.D., MPH, MBA
Chief Clinical Officer
Jeff Brizzolara brings a unique combination of skills in management, teaching and research to Viverae. With over 18 years experience developing and delivering health management, preventive medicine and wellness services, Dr. Brizzolara leads Viverae's health care research, education initiatives and outreach programs. He has directed a variety of health and wellness programs in both urban and rural settings; served on the faculty of a number of colleges, universities and medical schools; and completed Six Sigma training. Dr. Brizzolara is one of only five individuals from Texas, and the only one from Dallas, selected to the WELCOA (Wellness Council of America) National Panel of Advisors.
Dave Smith
Chief Technology Officer
Dave Smith leads the development and operations for Viverae's proprietary health management system and oversees all technology areas for Viverae. Prior to joining Viverae, he served as vice president of software engineering for the TriZetto Group, where he was responsible for the development of six products which are now used by some of the nation's largest health plans. During his time there, he served as a member of the TriZetto Architecture Council, a group responsible for making enterprise- level software architecture decisions for the entire company of more than 400 developers. Mr. Smith co-founded HealthWeb Systems LLC and helped build the company into a multi-million dollar business in less than three years before it was purchased by TriZetto in 1999. Mr. Smith has more than 17 years experience in product and team building for large-scale commercial software developments and in managing and architecting commercial grade products through full life cycles.
Mark Head
Chief Solutions Officer
Mark Head, chief solutions officer, provides strategic health management services, including workplace wellness programs and integrated wellness, and medical and disease management benefit design and delivery for Viverae clients. Mr. Head brings 29 years combined experience in the health promotion, wellness, health insurance brokerage and consulting businesses. He previously served on the Chairman's Council of the Foundation For Responsible Television, which funds and distributes the McCuistion Program, an issues-oriented television program on business, social, economic and public policy concerns and challenges. An active member in the community, he has served on numerous board and steering committees for Dallas organizations, including the Dallas Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Boyd Lyles, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer & Chairman of Medical Advisory Board
Dr. Boyd Lyles, an internal and preventive medicine specialist, was the founder of the HeartHealth and Wellness Center, a practice he established in Dallas, TX. He now practices in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, near Aspen. A frequent speaker across the country on health, heart disease, nutrition and exercise, Dr. Lyles served 17 years at the Cooper Clinic, the final six years as associate medical director. Dr. Lyles has degrees from Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and performed his internal medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa.
Robin Claterbaugh, MBA
Vice President of Marketing
Robin Claterbaugh oversees Viverae's integrated marketing program, including branding, communications, public relations, interactive, sales support, sponsorship, events, community relations and promotional initiatives. She brings 18 years of senior-level business and consumer marketing expertise to the company. Most recently, she served as senior director of strategic marketing services for Oakwood Worldwide where she was responsible for implementing results-oriented marketing strategies and overseeing sales-enablement programs for the company. There, she generated $82 million in annual revenue through the execution of numerous direct marketing and awareness campaigns. Ms. Claterbaugh also served as vice president of marketing for FairPay Solutions, where she drove year-over-year revenue growth through a ground-up marketing program. She spent much of her marketing career in management roles of increasing responsibility with FedEx Kinko's, Sprint Inc. and Murata/Muratec of America.
John Pizza
Vice President of Sales
John Pizza brings diverse experience in health management, health insurance and benefits consulting to Viverae. With more than 16 years sales experience, Mr. Pizza most recently served as new business manager for CIGNA HEALTHCARE in Chicago, where he was responsible for generating middle-market business across all CIGNA product lines. Prior to his work with CIGNA, Mr. Pizza was a principal and national health management practice leader for Mercer, responsible for the development, operations, sales and delivery of health management solutions for 70 sales offices in the United States. Mr. Pizza also served as regional sales manager with ebDirect where he focused on constructing the first Web-based aggregator of small group employee benefits. In this earlier part of his career, Mr. Pizza worked with as a partner and senior benefits consultant with Allen Benefits Consultants and as an account executive with First Commonwealth Inc., both in Chicago.
